Dental Assistant - First Smiles Children's Dentistry - Modesto, CA

We are looking for an energetic, patient, and child-friendly Dental Assistant or RDA to join our fast-paced dental family! In this role, you will be the ultimate comfort guide for our young patients. You will help infants, children, and teens feel safe, confident, and excited about visiting the dentist. Key Responsibilities Child Guiding: Welcome children and parents warmly, using kid-friendly language and positive behavior management (Tell-Show-Do method) to ease dental anxiety. Clinical Assisting: Assist the Pediatric Dentist during standard exams, cleanings, restorative procedures (fillings, crowns, pulps, extractions), and nitrous oxide cases. Diagnostics: Take high-quality digital dental X-rays and intraoral photos comfortably on pediatric patients. Sterilization: Sterilize dental instruments, prepare treatment rooms, and strictly maintain infection control protocols. Charting: Document dental findings, treatment plans, and patient vitals accurately within our electronic dental software. Education: Teach children and parents proper brushing and flossing techniques in a fun, engaging way. Qualifications & Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program preferred. Active State Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) license, or X-ray certification required by state law. Coronal Polishing and Sealant certificates are highly preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification. Previous experience in a pediatric dental office or childcare setting is a major plus.
