Today's topic is dental hygienist and dental assessments and why it's important for hygienists to be able to complete dental assessments.
The easy answer to that question is of course it's a really big part of the position right it's a pretty hefty job duty. So we want to make sure that we're doing a good job when we're carrying out our job duties throughout the day.
The other reason that it's very important is because it's listed as standard number one for the American dental hygienist so see a shion's standards for clinical dental hygiene practice.
So it's pretty important to be listed on there it's a major part of the of the dental process right so as a matter of fact the American dental hygienists Association defines assessment as the collection and analysis of systemic and oral health data in order to identify client needs.
And of course that information available on a ADA org but that definition actually tells us why the assessment is so important right it's because we need to identify the client's needs in order to move forward with diagnosis and treatment plans.
We need to be able to do that research and collect that data in order to make an informed decision a data-driven decision when it comes to diagnosis and treatment plans. If that's necessary, so very very important.
There are a lot of resources out there for study guides regarding the assessment portion and practice tests regarding the assessment portion but if you're out there you watching this video and you've you have you know resources that you like to use that help you improve your skills when it comes to create to completing the assessments then I really encourage you to comment on this video. Share your knowledge with everyone else!
So that's why it's important for dental hygienists to be able to complete the assessments in order to move on with the rest of the process and be able to make those decisions and use good judgment for those decisions.
I hope everybody had a wonderful wonderful weekend!
