Adjunct Instructors are hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year, depending on enrollment needs. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach anticipated Dental Hygiene courses, which range from basic to advanced skill levels. Where applicable, adjuncts are required to maintain and/or provide licensure and certifications. Typical Duties Provide classroom, clinical, and/or lab instruction in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation Primary responsibility includes teaching in the classroom and/or lab while aligning with objectives and outcomes for the department Analyze student learning outcomes for courses taught and revise teaching based upon findings Provide course student learning outcomes to department Complete student grades and classroom work in a timely manner Expected to be reliable, responsible, professional, and efficient with schedule and teaching assignment Collaborate with other faculty and administration to support student success Use technology appropriate to the nature and objectives of the course/program, including the college learning management system Desire to Learn (D2L) and Zoom software Pursue continued professional development in the subject(s) taught Maintain required credentials, licensing, and continuing education hours as discipline standards dictate Hold required office hours based upon credit hours taught Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skills Required Experience and ability to work with students and staff Ability to work as a team player in a multicultural working environment Minimum Education and Experience Masterâs degree in Dental Hygiene OR Bachelorâs degree in Dental Hygiene and 1-year experience Current Michigan license as a Registered Dental Hygienist Certification in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation To be considered for this position, please include the following as attachments to your online application: resume, cover letter, copies of unofficial transcripts (showing date degree was conferred), valid license copy, and certification copy.
