This position will be at our Hyndman location- 144 Fifth Ave Hyndman PA 15545 as well as our Bedford location- 104 Railroad St. Bedford PA 15522 Summary: The Dental Hygienist assists the dental provider in direct dental care and performs some duties expected of a dental assistant. They perform periodontal functions and assure quality patient care. No production or sales pressure. Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist in four handed dentistry and provide direct patient care:

Exposing and processing dental radiographs.

Primary impressions.

Pumice prophylaxis of clinical crowns.

Plaque control procedures.

Application of sealants

Periodontal functions:

Oral exams and charting

Removal of calculus and plaque with scalers or cavitron

Periodontal probing and charting when necessary

Ability to perform scaling and root planing if needed

Ability to perform soft tissue curettage if needed

Desensitization.

Oral health instruction and dietary analysis.

Patient instruction and education on dental care.

Smoking cessation counseling

Taking thorough medical history, checking premeds, and vitals at each appointment
Sterilization and sharpening of dental instruments and maintain dental operatory. Also assists with sterilization and instruments of dental provider
Assist with processor at the end of the day
Performs other duties as delegated and assigned by Chief Dental Officer
Qualifications:

Graduate of a dental hygienist program
Licensed in the State of Pennsylvania
Preferred clinical experience in hygiene and dental assisting.
CPR/AED Certification
Responsible for maintaining an educational program in preventative dental care
Ability to be sitting, standing, bending, and walking for several hours a day
