Dental Assistant Trainer/Mentor - Essex Family Dental - Essex Junction, VT

In addition to a primary role as a dental assistant, we are looking for a candidate who would enjoy being a mentor to new dental assistants. The ideal candidate would provide guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to a less experienced colleague while helping them develop their clinical skills, navigate office procedures, manage patient interaction, and help them progress in their career in dentistry. The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who is able to deliver positive and constructive feedback in a gentle way , while also being great listeners. This is essential to creating a positive mentor /mentee relationship.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures- Set up and breakdown operatory post-treatment- Take and document patient dental history and updates, as well as overall health and medication history- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations- Perform 3D scanning of teeth- Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked operatory
Secondary Responsibilities
-meet regularly with your mentee around clinical skills and progress
-gather input from doctors on mentees' progress towards clinical competencies
-provide professional guidance to your mentee
- train other mentees on a specific clinical skills
-deliver feedback towards developing a successful mentor program
Experience- At least 3 years of dental experience required- Knowledge of Dentrix software is a plus but not required- Understanding of anatomy and vital signs- Proficiency in using a 3D scanner for dental procedures- Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques- Ability to handle medical documentation accurately and maintain HIPAA compliance- Strong assisting skills and willingness to learn new techniques
-Experience with removables (prosthetics) a plus but not required
- Please include at least two references (one personal and one professional ) who can vouch for your ability to become a mentor to new dental assistants. We are offering a $1000 sign on bonus to hired candidate ($500 at time of hire/$500 after 6 months of employment)
