Dental Hygienist Overview: The community health Dental Hygienist works under general supervision to provide preventive dental services to eligible patients. The successful candidate will effectively communicate oral health prevention practices through patient education. Duties & Responsibilities: Provides preventive dental services (cleans, scales and polishes teeth) with skill, care and good judgment. Places dental sealants as prescribed. Documents patient treatment and related correspondence in electronic dental chart. Takes prescribed dental radiographs. Communicates dental treatment information to patients, parents and clinical staff. Demonstrates proper oral hygiene techniques. Performs infection control and instrument sterilization according to dental policies and procedures. Performs procedures to identify and document stages of gum disease. Participate in school based and community events to promote oral health. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: HS Diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene. Experience: 0 to 1 year experience in a dental clinical setting as a practicing dental hygienist Licensure: Must have a valid Driverâs License (TX upon hire) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Texas Dental Hygiene License Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to work well with public and staff members. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners. Physical Demands: Must possess the physical ability, manual dexterity and eyesight to practice dental hygiene in a competent manner in a dental clinical setting. Work Location: Mobile (reporting address 7457 Harwin Drive Suite 324 Houston, TX 77035, position is assigned to the Mobile Dental Unit team) Must be willing to travel to work at multiple clinic locations within Harris County, as directed Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
