JOB SUMMARY
This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for supporting the dentists and dental hygienists in delivering primary dental care services to patients. The Dental Assistant plays a key role in sterilizing, preparing, and managing the inventory of dental instruments and supplies. Additionally, the role includes maintaining and ensuring the proper functioning of dental equipment and infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive dental care to patients, including routine check-ups, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and preventive care.

Conduct thorough exams and diagnoses, developing personalized treatment plans. • Manage dental emergencies and special cases as needed.

Demonstrate excellent patient communication skills, ensuring children and their families feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment.

Address and manage behavioral health issues commonly found in pediatric patients, using calming techniques, positive reinforcement, and other strategies to create a positive dental experience.

Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, mental health professionals, and dental hygienists, to deliver whole care.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and health center policies.

Participate in community outreach and educational initiatives to promote oral health awareness in the local community.

Provide guidance to dental assistants and other staff as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED

Dental assisting from an accredited school or dental assisting experience.

Organized and able to work quickly and efficiently to assure smooth operations.

Must exhibit a caring attitude in working with a variety of people including persons with complex issues including behavioral health, disability and poverty issues.

Must be able to work in close collaboration with other professionals in keeping a steady patient flow.

Must be detailed and accurate in documentation.

Intermediate computer efficiency to include proficiency in Windows, MS Office, NextGen/QSI.

Expanded functions are preferred including Restorative I and II, Prosthodontics-Fixed and Removable.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $21.25 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
