Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in Huntington, WV

The purpose of this position is to provide direct service to patients in various public health settings, assist with the implementation of oral health programs focused on education, outreach, research and treatment and serve as the West Virginia representative to the OPEN network. The person in this position will work with a team of other professionals and organizations to carry out the functions below. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provide direct care services to patients in public health settings, Recovery Point, Ebenezer Medical Outreach Clinic, Health Right Mobile, MU Dental, MARCO school-based program and others as the need arises. 2. Participate on required calls, events and convenings as a representative for West Virginia. 3. Conduct tobacco cessation, education and outreach in various venues as determined. 4. Conduct lectures to the GPR Dental Residents 5. Conducted oral health education, outreach and surveillance. 6. Train non-dental health care providers in the most recent recommendations and best practices focused on oral health delivery and education. 7. Coordinate educational programs to a wide variety of agencies, professionals, and groups using an evidence-based program with measurable outcomes for the improvement of oral health across the lifespan. 8. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Active WV Dental Hygiene license with a public health certification, Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification, grant writing experience, CITI research certification. Location MUSOM - Marshall University School of Medicine Salary Range Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equity Required Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene, or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene with a Bachelorâs of Science in a health-related field, WV dental hygiene license and public health certification. Experience Minimum three yearsâ experience in Dental Public Health; extensive experience in the public health setting working with schools, school children, and free clinics; experience with national platforms DentaQuest OPEN Network, ASTDD; experience and knowledge of data bases such as WVSIIS, SEALS, and etc.; good interpersonal skills and experience in presenting to large audiences on a statewide level.
