Job OverviewA very busy dental office in Yankton is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and a thorough understanding of dental hygiene practices. This role involves working closely with patients to provide preventive oral care, educate them on maintaining oral health, and assist in various dental procedures. Our office works a rotating schedule. We have a four day weekend every other weekend. We work Monday-Thursday one week, and Tuesday-Friday the next week. We close at 2pm on the Fridays that we do work.
Duties
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories and performing oral examinations.
Provide professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar.
Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluoride treatments.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of regular dental visits.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress in compliance with office protocols.
Assist in infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Collaborate with the dental team to develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene practices, including medical terminology and imaging techniques.
Requirements
Valid state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in South Dakota.
Strong knowledge of infection control protocols and patient care standards.
Experience or familiarity with medical coding, dental assisting, pediatric dentistry, and documentation review is preferred.
Proficient in medical imaging techniques relevant to dental practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills within a busy dental office environment.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
