Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience as a dental assistant, with experience using Open Dental practice management software considered a plus. Experience in assisting with dental surgeries is an asset. This role involves providing essential support to our dental professionals, ensuring a smooth workflow, and delivering excellent patient care. The position primarily includes evening & weekend hours with the possibility of transitioning to full-time as the practice expands. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Assistance: Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including cleanings, fillings, and extractions. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays as needed. Provide chairside assistance and ensure patient comfort throughout procedures. Prepare and maintain treatment rooms for patient procedures. Patient Care: Greet and prepare patients for their appointments, addressing their needs and concerns. Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and treatment plans. Monitor patient reactions during procedures and communicate any concerns to the dentist. Office Support: Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records using Open Dental practice management software (experience with this software is a plus). Assist with inventory management and ordering of dental supplies. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and procedures. Surgical Assistance: Assist in dental surgeries and complex procedures, providing support and managing instruments and materials. Prepare surgical trays and ensure all necessary equipment is available and functioning. Additional Duties: Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with dental practices and technologies. Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant. Experience with Open Dental practice management software is a plus. Previous experience assisting with dental surgeries is an asset. Strong knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and sterilization techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. High level of professionalism and attention to detail. Work Schedule: Part-Time evening & Saturday hours with flexibility.
