Dental Hygienist - O'Brien Smiles, PLLC - Lakewood Ranch, FL

We are a single doctor, locally owned general practice located in Lakewood Ranch. Our focus is on a patient’s overall oral health and wellness. We take the time to understand our patients’ needs and concerns and then develop suitable treatment plans to address them for long term stability. We are an adult oriented practice, with a limited number of late adolescent patients. We do work with special needs patients as part of our overall practice. We are currently looking to add a dental hygienist to our team. This position would start part-time, but has the opportunity to grow to 4 days per week as our practice continues to grow. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to supplement their schedule and then transition into a more full-time oriented role should you wish to do so. Typical duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to: · Reviewing patient’s history to understand their needs · Take digital X-rays (bitewings, FMX, Pan) · Provide required hygiene care including prophies, scaling & root planning, fluoride treatments, etc. · Exam gums through probing and evaluation for existing disease or the signs of early stage · Educate patients through a co-discovery process that follows the doctor’s philosophy · Evaluate patient’s medical and dental history prior to appointment and be able to discuss and recommend any previously planned treatments as well as developing new treatment plans based on current findings · Turn room over in timely manner, sterilize equipment and instruments and maintain on-time patient flow through the hygiene department · Maintain a clean operatory including dusting, sweeping, and mopping as necessary Minimum qualifications to be considered: · Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene Program and current Hygienist License with no adverse impacts · Full understanding and compliance with HIPPA · Excellent interpersonal skills including in-person, over the phone and in written (e-mail/text) communications with patients, vendors and other offices. · Prefer 1+ years of hygiene experience but willing to consider recent graduates from an accredited Dental Hygiene program. We do not presently offer any benefits, except for discounted dental care for yourself and immediate family after a probationary period. Typical hours are from 8am to 4pm.
