Job Overview Privately and locally owned dental office located off Alta Dr. in NE Jax looking for an enthusiastic dental assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule as we offer extended hours for our patients. Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures. Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary. Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary. Providing great patient care. Recording treatment information in patient records. Exposing dental x-rays. Giving patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control. Collecting and recording medical and dental histories and patient vital signs. Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist. Caring for dental equipment. Capturing preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts. Ordering dental supplies and maintaining dental equipment inventory. Fabricating temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions. Other job responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; strong medical documentation skills; knowledge of medical coding and records management. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, X-ray procedures, and medical imaging. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with infection control standards and aseptic techniques. Ability to interpret dental terminology accurately while supporting procedures involving pediatrics or complex restorative work. Familiarity with medical terminology related to dental assisting roles; experience working with pediatric patients is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in recordkeeping and clinical duties.
