Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team in Lansing, MI. Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ensure aseptic techniques are followed consistently to prevent infection transmission within the dental office environment. Utilize dental terminology effectively when communicating with patients and team members. Support general dentistry services by managing patient care from initial assessment through post-treatment instructions. Collaborate with the dental team to uphold high standards of infection control, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding accuracy. Experience Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is required, with familiarity in both dental assisting and hygiene roles preferred. Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes. Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining patient comfort. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for safe practice. Background in medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus but not mandatory.
