Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments, providing chairside assistance with dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs confidently and communicate effectively. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical records management. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing skills in dental assisting and chairside assisting techniques.
