SmileBox Dental of Cumming is seeking a Lead Expanded Duties Dental Assistant We are a small, patient-focused general dental office who is in need of a Lead Expanded Duties Dental Assistant to join our team. We’re looking for someone who brings strong clinical skills and a genuinely warm, calming presence. Candidate for this role will take ownership of the back office, support the doctor with confidence, and helps keep the day running smoothly for patients and staff alike. What you’ll do (Expanded Lead Role): Lead and coordinate back-office flow to keep the schedule on track and patients well cared for Assist the dentist during procedures: set-up/break-down, instrument transfer, suctioning, isolation, and patient support Perform expanded duties as permitted by state guidelines, including (but not limited to): Taking and processing digital x-rays Impressions/scans, pouring models, temporaries, and clear-aligner/whitening support Fabricating/adjusting temporary crowns and provisionals Assisting with restorative, endo, extractions, Invisalign/ortho, and emergency care Ensure accurate charting: treatment notes, medical histories, and documentation in the patient record Maintain sterilization and OSHA/CDC compliance; oversee operatory readiness and infection control systems Prepare and maintain instruments, materials, lab cases, and clinical inventory (including restock and ordering support) Help train, mentor, and support other assistants as needed Provide excellent patient experience: greet, room, explain procedures, and respond to concerns with empathy Support the business team when necessary (patient handoffs, scheduling support, or care coordination) What we’re looking for: High school diploma or equivalent Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program Expanded Duties Dental Assistant certification Current CPR certification 3+ year dental assisting experience preferred ; lead experience a plus Confident in chairside assisting and working independently Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills Detail-oriented and reliable with a “team-first” mindset Warm, caring personality that helps patients feel safe and understood Why you’ll like it here: Competitive pay based on experience and expanded duties Accrue paid time off from day one Continuing education and growth opportunities Supportive, low-drama team culture A chance to work in a non-corporate office where your skills and voice matter If you’re a skilled Expanded Duties Dental Assistant who wants to step into a lead role and make a real difference in a small private practice, we’d love to meet you.
