Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Meditech. Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary supplies. Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation review, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes within EMR systems like Epic or Athenahealth. Perform administrative tasks such as insurance verification, billing, coding (including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and collection of payments in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records efficiently through filing, data entry, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems to ensure confidentiality and accuracy. Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while managing appointment scheduling and patient inquiries. Support clinic operations by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation for completeness, and assisting with medical administrative support tasks. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by addressing patient needs promptly and maintaining a welcoming environment. Qualifications Prior experience in a dental or medical office environment with proficiency in dental terminology and medical billing practices. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth is essential. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards including CPT, ICD-9/10 coding for accurate billing and documentation. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office management software. Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated clerical experience with front desk operations, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and medical records management. Exceptional communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette and typing speed (including 10-key typing). Clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology such as care plans and intake procedures is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
