Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures such as cleanings, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology including 3D scanners, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and upcoming appointments to foster understanding and comfort. Monitor vital signs when necessary, especially in pediatric or medically complex cases, maintaining awareness of patient health status throughout visits. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, processing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with front desk operations. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices to maintain a safe clinical environment. Experience with dental software systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations along with medical terminology and medical coding for accurate record keeping. Ability to perform general dentistry procedures confidently while supporting specialized areas like endodontics or prosthodontics when needed. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices to effectively assist young patients and handle pediatric-specific equipment and procedures. Competence in taking X-rays, operating medical imaging devices including 3D scanners, and interpreting basic images for diagnostic support. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists while providing excellent patient care.
