Duties Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings and removals with precision and care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays, dental photographs, and 3D scans to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry cases. Monitor supplies and inventory, as well as assist with medical documentation related to patient health status and treatment records. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and ensuring a sterile environment at all times. Collaborate with the dental team to provide four-handed dentistry, enhancing efficiency during procedures. Assist with medical imaging procedures and maintain familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental assisting. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting, preferably with orthodontic or pediatric dentistry exposure. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical documentation and records efficiently. Strong knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA standards. Ability to take high-quality X-rays, diagnostic photographs, and operate 3D scanners for comprehensive treatment planning. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate documentation. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and coordinate seamlessly with the dental team. Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently during complex when required. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring the confidentiality of patient information at all times. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology is preferred but not mandatory; ongoing training is supported. A positive attitude combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment focused on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry.
