HUI NO KE OLA PONO JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Oral Health Assistant Department: Oral Health Reports to: Oral Health Director Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Date Reviewed: 3/25/25 OSITION DESCRIPTION The Oral Health Assistant assists the Dentist with case management of dental clients and services provided to individual clients. Oversees the cleaning and maintenance of the oral health equipment and maintains the supply inventory. Prepares equipment and supplies for services outside the oral health room. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists with client scheduling and appointments, other clerical, tracking and documentation services as assigned by the Oral Health Director. 2. Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, all patient health information will be strictly accessed and be handled in a confidential manner at all times. Access to Patient Health Information shall be limited to only those persons needing such information in order to perform the specific duties of their job (such as direct patient care, patient billing or quality assurance review). 3. Assists Dentist in all aspects of oral health services. 4. Set up and break down operatories and prepare for procedures. 5. Takes radiological exams as ordered by the Dentist. 6. Performs dental laboratory procedures such as pouring impressions, trim models, prepare splints for crown and bridgework, make custom trays, night guards and acrylic temporaries, and other lab procedures. 7. Documents client services in the client oral health record, then obtains dentist signature. 8. Maintains equipment and supply inventory. 9. Cleans and maintains equipment, observing approved sterile and clean infection control techniques. 10. Supports Hui No Ke Ola Pono initiatives and projects. 11. Assists with oral health education to clients and community groups. 12. Participates as part of the safety committee. 13. Maintains scope of practice as mandated by the State Board of Dental Examiners. 14. Complies with all State and Federal regulations pertaining to oral health services. 15. Other duties as assigned by Oral Health Director. QUALIFICATIONS Resident of Maui High School Graduate Ability to work with Hawaiian community in outreach Ability to work with field equipment at remote sites in the treatment of clients Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of basic computer skills Clean traffic abstract and current driverâs license and transportation TB clearance prior to employment Preferred minimum 1-year dental assisting experience NOTE: We are willing to train the best fit candidate.
