Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for patients of all ages. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.. Assist the dentist during examinations focused on oral health and patient comfort. Take dental imaging while adhering to strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits. This education must be done patient by patient with care and never causing shame or guilt. Manage and update electronic medical records (EMR systems) using Eaglesoft with accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and patient interactions. Review medical records for completeness and accuracy; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Monitor and record vital signs before procedures; recognize signs of medical emergencies and respond appropriately. Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of biohazard materials. Keep up-to-date with the latest dental terminology, techniques, and best practices through ongoing education in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry topics. Assist in documentation review for billing purposes, including dental (CDT) coding related to dental procedures when applicable. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in dental office or clinic environments, preferably with familiarity using EMR system: Eaglesoft. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach; ability to educate patients clearly about oral health practices. Proficiency in taking dental radiographs Ability to perform detailed documentation review and maintain precise dental records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and current mediation considerations Strong communication skills; capable of collaborating effectively within a team in a fast-paced environment.
