Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental instruments, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures. Assist dentists during a variety of treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision. Take digital dental images using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Manage patient records accurately using computer dental management system while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Perform vital signs measurements and assess patient comfort levels before, during, and after procedures. Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental reception team to ensure seamless patient flow. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and dental terminology is essential. Familiarity with SoftDent Carestream programs is a plus but can be learned easily. Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, anatomy related to oral health, and medical imaging is required to ensure safe practice standards. Experience with X-ray procedures, including the use of 3D scanners for advanced diagnostics, is advantageous. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical coding practices ensures accurate recordkeeping and billing processes. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred to respond effectively in emergency situations.
