Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, while educating patients on oral hygiene best practices. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Monitor infection control procedures by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to strict sterilization protocols. Educate patients on dental terminology, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing oral health. Support the dental team with chairside assisting during general dentistry procedures, including pediatric dentistry when applicable. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with medical coding standards for billing purposes. Uphold all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, infection control, and medical records management. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic environment. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care. Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus but not required. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform patient care tasks efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism.
