Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control standards. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing patient comfort. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for confidentiality. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using clear dental terminology. Monitor vital signs and observe patient reactions during treatments to ensure safety and comfort. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation and records management. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient medical documentation and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and medical coding standards. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry as well as specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Excellent communication skills suited for working with pediatric patients and collaborating effectively within a team of dental professionals. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry best practices to support young patients comfortably through their treatments.
