Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments with precision and efficiency. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring high-quality images while maintaining strict infection control protocols. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Dentrix, including updating medical histories and documenting treatment details. Provide exceptional chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs to ensure patient safety throughout procedures. Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following aseptic techniques and infection control standards aligned with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Assist with general clinic operations including inventory management of dental supplies and equipment like 3D scanners or medical imaging devices. Uphold confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines while managing medical records and documentation accurately. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting procedures is essential. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic enhances workflow efficiency. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is required to ensure safe patient care. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with the ability to assist in specialized areas like endodontics or prosthodontics. Demonstrated ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately using digital imaging technology. Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical coding related to dental treatments enhances recordkeeping accuracy. Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, while maintaining professionalism at all times.
