Responsibilities Assist dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, with precision and professionalism. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly following infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. Manage patient records efficiently within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times. Conduct chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize treatment efficiency and patient comfort. Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation to support overall patient health assessments. Maintain an aseptic environment by adhering to strict infection control standards and proper sterilization procedures. Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and handling medical records with accuracy. Educate patients on oral health practices, dental terminology, and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing wellness. Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims or billing processes when necessary. Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry to assist effectively during procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic is a plus. Strong knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols. Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding related to dental care. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with children is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment using four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred but not required; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
