Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform comprehensive dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and patient assessment techniques. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix is preferred, along with knowledge of pediatric dentistry and four-handed dentistry practices. The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in promoting oral health and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent oral disease. Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates. Conduct patient assessments to evaluate oral health status and identify potential issues. Assist in medical imaging procedures such as X-rays while maintaining proper aseptic techniques. Provide chairside assistance during procedures, including handing instruments and managing patient comfort. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols to ensure a sterile environment in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review medical records for relevant health information prior to treatment. Collaborate with dentists on treatment planning and documentation review. Support general dentistry procedures with expertise in anatomy knowledge and dental terminology. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office or clinic settings; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, and medical terminology related to dentistry. Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently for optimal patient care. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach toward diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, medical imaging procedures, and anatomy relevant to dental practice. Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
