Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Houston, TX
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This role requires a decent understanding of dental procedures, infection control protocols, and documentation to deliver high-quality dental services across various specialties including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Experience with electronic health records systems such as Open dental is preferred. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-focused environment. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards Manage patient records using EMR systems like Open dental ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of documentation Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures Operate dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices Maintain aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure safety standards are met Educate patients on dental health, post-treatment care, and proper oral hygiene practices Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed Assist with four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency during procedures Support infection control protocols including sterilization of instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environment Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procesures preferred Proficiency with dental software such as Open dental is highly desirable but not required Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical records management Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging equipment, and 3D scanners is advantageous General understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in fast-paced environment Certification in radiography or X-ray certification is preferred but not mandatory for all roles Join our team to provide compassionate patient care while advancing your career in a supportive and professional environment.
