Job Overview Ozark Prosthodontics is a respected prosthodontic practice specializing in complex, medically involved patients and advanced restorative and surgical care. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Surgical Dental Assistant who is committed to learning, enjoys structured clinical work, and is looking to build a long-term career in a specialized dental environment. This position is ideal for individuals with a medical backgroundâsuch as CNAs, Medical Assistants, EMTs, or those with similar clinical experienceâwho are interested in expanding their career path into dentistry. No prior dental experience is required, but a bonus if you do have; full training is provided. Responsibilities : Clinical & Surgical Assistance Assist the doctor during surgical and non-surgical procedures Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and supplies, following strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques Assist during surgical procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort Take dental radiographs (CBCT, panoramic, PA, bitewings) and perform 3D intraoral scans for diagnostic and treatment planning needs Monitor vital signs and observe patient responses during procedures to ensure safety and comfort Prepare, organize, and maintain instruments and treatment rooms Ensure efficient room setup, turnover, and sterilization workflows Patient & Case Management Confirm all lab work, prosthetics, and case components are completed prior to patient appointments Verify patient consents, medical clearances, and documentation ahead of procedures Provide clear patient education, including post-operative instructions, medication guidance, and oral hygiene recommendations Assist with scheduling to ensure accurate time allocation for appointments Support patient flow to maintain an efficient daily schedule Administrative & Documentation Duties Maintain accurate clinical documentation within systems while ensuring HIPAA compliance Track, organize, and manage lab cases Communicate effectively with team members, doctors, and patients Qualifications Required: Strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism A willingness to learn and grow in a clinical environment Ability to work with medically compromised patients Excellent attention to detail and follow-through Strong organizational and time-management skills Preferred (but not required): Medical background (CNA, MA, EMT, surgical tech, etc.) Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with experience in chairside assisting during surgical procedures. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral health care.
