Duties Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral health status. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry needs. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including documentation review and medical coding. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and record management. Experience working in general dentistry settings with a focus on pediatric dentistry preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards. Strong patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems for documentation review and medical records management. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach toward pediatric patients.
