Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will have experience in general dentistry, with a strong focus on chairside assisting, infection control, and dental procedures. This role involves supporting dentists during various treatments, managing patient care, and ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence. The EFDA will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient experiences while maintaining compliance with all healthcare regulations and protocols. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures including restorations and prosthodontics dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging as needed. Record vital signs and medical history details accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or other EmMR platforms. Manage dental documentation, medical records, and coding in copliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative care, and oral health maintenance. Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including endodontics and prosthodontics. Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe clinical environment. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Epic, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Experience with dental imaging including X-ray techniques and 3D scanners. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and pediatrics-related procedures. Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency. Ability to interpret dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures across general dentistry specialties like endodontics and prosthodontics. Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for patient safety. Experience working in a dental clinic environment with medical records management and medical coding expertise is preferred.
