Job Title: Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality preventive oral care, educate patients on maintaining optimal oral health, and work collaboratively with our dental team to ensure exceptional patient experiences. This role focuses on promoting oral health, detecting early signs of dental issues, and supporting overall patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains.
- Conduct patient screenings, including oral health assessments, and examine for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis or periodontal disease.
- Take dental X-rays as needed. FMX may be required.
- Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride applications and dental sealants.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and the impact of diet on oral health.
- Document patient care, update medical histories, and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulations.
- Assist dentists during procedures and handle minor emergencies.
- Sterilize instruments and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Screen for oral cancer and other abnormalities during examinations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associate's degree (or higher) in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current state license as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- Certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Proven experience in a clinical dental setting preferred (new graduates welcome).
- Proficiency with dental software and X-ray equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with patients and our team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while collaborating with the dental team.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in dental practices.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with periodontal therapy or advanced preventive care.
- Ability to educate and motivate patients effectively.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
