The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in promoting oral health and supporting overall patient well-being, ensuring compliance with all HIPAA and infection control standards. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing procedures to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Document treatment notes accurately in EMR systems, reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Review medical records and ensure proper documentation review for each patient visit. Support pediatric dentistry procedures when applicable, adapting techniques for pediatric patients. Collaborate with dentists on patient care plans, including patient assessment and medical coding as needed. Uphold dental terminology standards to ensure clear communication within the team. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix is highly preferred. Experience with EMR systems, medical coding, and documentation review is advantageous. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and aseptic techniques. Experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinic settings is preferred. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties when necessary. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism and attention to detail.
