About Us: James Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a new start-up practice within the greater Idaho Falls area. We pride ourselves on open honest communication with our patients, staff and referrals. The practice is growing and needs to expand our staff. Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Oral Surgery Assistant/Patient Concierge who is a proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes initiative, is eager to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting. This role requires someone with exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and a genuine passion for patient care. You will wear many hats within the practice including assisting the surgical team, answering patient calls, scheduling appointments, performing insurance verifications among others. Key Responsibilities: Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including patient positioning, instrument handling, and maintaining a sterile field. Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols. Take and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and assist with patient assessments. Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring they understand instructions and feel comfortable. Manage and organize surgical supplies and inventory, ensuring that necessary items are stocked and readily available. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes and follow-up care instructions. Perform administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments, processing patient information, and handling correspondence. Qualifications: Ideal candidate would have experience assisting either in the dental field or surgical field. Previous experience as an oral surgery assistant or in a similar clinical role is highly desirable but not required. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and team members. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively. Compassionate, with a genuine interest in providing high-quality patient care. More about the position: The practice is currently open Wednesday, Thursday and half day Friday. The new team member would be assured 24 hours per week (at the practice in Ammon) with an opportunity for additional hours if they are willing to travel (an increased pay differential would be added).
