Job description: Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. This role combines both front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, providing essential patient care and ensuring smooth office operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical software systems, and a solid understanding of dental terminology and procedures. Bilingual abilities are a must (English/Mandarin), as well as previous experience in dental or medical office environments. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly by name and manage patient check-in/check-out processes efficiently Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow using dental practice management software such as Open Dental Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle insurance verifications accurately Collect payments, process billing, and perform medical collections as needed Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in computer software. Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment Assist the doctor(s) in providing dental treatment to patients Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical histories and treatment plans Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; respond promptly to patient inquiries Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient health information and documentation review Perform administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and managing office supplies Ensuring office space is clean and well-organized free of debris, dust, hair, blood, stains, etc. Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities, including patient intake, appointment confirmations, and follow-up calls, insurance eligibility/benefits verifications, presenting treatment plans to patient and providing financial guidance and payment options. Assist with dental coding (ADA codes) for billing purposes and ensure proper documentation of procedures, follow-up on claims/reimbursement from insurance companies, collect payment from patients. Requirements Proven experience in a dental office setting; prior dental clinic experience is a must Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Open Dental Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental coding (ADA), and insurance processes including verification and billing Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management systems Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings Bilingual skills (English/Mandarin) are a must to serve diverse patient populations High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in dental assisting or office administration is a must This role is integral to providing outstanding patient care while ensuring the efficient operation of our dental practice.
