Overview We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks in a fast-paced dental office environment. This role requires proficiency in handling medical records, scheduling appointments, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. A strong understanding of dental terminology and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is essential. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes. Schedule and confirm patient appointments using EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Dentrix. Manage multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls, inquiries, and appointment requests. Verify insurance information and perform insurance verification for patient accounts. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Process medical billing and coding, including CPT coding and ICD-9/ICD-10 classifications. Conduct intake assessments and review care plans to ensure comprehensive patient care. Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and maintaining organized medical records. Assist with medical collections as needed while ensuring a positive patient experience. Collaborate with dental staff to ensure smooth operations within the clinic. Qualifications Previous experience as a Dental Receptionist or in a similar medical office role is preferred. Proficiency in EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or Eaglesoft is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology, and coding practices (ICD coding). Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; typing skills are essential (10 key typing preferred). Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply for enhanced patient communication. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Familiarity with health information management principles and practices.
