Duties Perform expanded functions such as placing and contouring restorations, under the supervision of the dentist. Assist with a variety of dental procedures across specialties like orthodontics, endodontics, restorative, and surgical dentistry. Take X-rays, digital radiographs and 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems), Dentrix, to document patient information accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Prepare treatment rooms with proper aseptic techniques, sterilize instruments, and uphold infection control standards throughout all procedures. Conduct vital signs assessments and review medical histories to support comprehensive patient care. Support front desk operations by managing appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and coordinating patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed. Collaborate in four-handed dentistry practices to ensure efficient workflow between the dentist and assistant during procedures. Maintain thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate accurate documentation and billing processes. Qualifications EFDA experience Proven experience in dental assisting within general dentistry or specialty practices such as pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics. Proficiency with EMR systems like , Dentrix; familiarity with medical documentation standards including HIPAA regulations. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently. Excellent understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
