Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in New Hyde Park, NY

Job Overview We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Dental Assistant / Receptionist to join our dental practice. This dual-role position supports both clinical and front office operations, ensuring excellent patient care, smooth daily workflow, and a positive patient experience from check-in to check-out. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during dental procedures Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments Take and process dental X-rays (as permitted by state regulations) Prepare dental materials and tray setups Maintain accurate clinical records and charting Ensure infection control and OSHA compliance Provide patient education and post-operative instructions Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk operations efficiently. Handle patient inquiries via phone and in-person with excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills. Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance claims processing. Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT coding and ICD-10 documentation review. Assist with medical collections as needed and manage patient payment plans. Collaborate with dental staff to ensure smooth operation of clinic activities and care plans. Utilize Microsoft Office for documentation and correspondence, ensuring all records are up-to-date. Support the dental team with clerical duties, including filing, intake processes, and managing multi-line phone systems. Experience Previous experience as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, dental terminology, ICD coding, Medicare processes, and health information management is essential. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient communication. Strong computer skills with an ability to type efficiently (10 key typing) are required. Experience in a clinic or hospital setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
