Responsibilities Perform thorough dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and calculus, and applying fluoride treatments to promote oral health. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe and personalized care. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to empower them in maintaining healthy smiles. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to increase efficiency and comfort for patients. Utilize dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, charting, and updating medical and dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Monitor patient comfort throughout treatments, ensuring excellent patient care and addressing any concerns promptly. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with proficiency in dental terminology and medical coding. Friendly and professional demeanor. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning. Strong knowledge of anatomy, infection control procedures, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance standards. Experience with Open Dental for managing electronic health records efficiently. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties including handling dental instruments and maintaining aseptic technique during procedures. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus; enthusiasm for working with children is highly valued.
