Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology, along with the ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires proficiency in various dental software systems and a commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment areas according to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Maintain accurate medical records, including medical documentation and coding, while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirmations, and follow-ups as a dental receptionist. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Monitor vital signs as necessary during procedures to ensure patient safety. Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for documentation and patient management. Assist in pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating patience and care when working with children. Stay updated on advancements in dental technology, including the use of 3D scanners and medical imaging techniques. Requirements Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with knowledge of general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices is essential. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic is a plus. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure. Strong communication skills to interact positively with patients and team members. Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial for accurate documentation and communication within the healthcare environment. Certification in dental assisting or relevant qualifications is preferred but not mandatory.
