Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth daily operations and excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical software, and a solid understanding of healthcare procedures and terminology. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently Schedule appointments, confirm bookings, and handle patient inquiries via multi-line phone systems Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes using systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and other EMR/EHR platforms Collect payments and perform medical billing including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing materials and ensuring sterilization protocols are followed Manage dental records, filing, and documentation review for accuracy and completeness Support office management tasks such as inventory control, filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and office organization Provide excellent patient service by demonstrating professionalism, phone etiquette, and compassionate communication skills Skills Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix and Eaglesoft; experience with Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is a plus Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance billing procedures Experience with EMR/EHR systems including eClinicalWorks or similar platforms Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) Ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently with professional phone etiquette Strong organizational skills for managing patient files, documentation review, and office administration tasks Bilingual abilities are preferred to enhance communication with diverse patient populations Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental clinic workflows is a plus Exceptional customer service skills to ensure positive patient experiences from intake to follow-up This role is vital in maintaining the efficiency of our practice while delivering compassionate care to our patients.
