Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on infection control, aseptic technique, and dental assisting best practices. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging procedures, and patient assessment with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for patient care education and collaboration with the dental team.
