Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. Orthodontic assistant at two location practice in Spring Hill FL and Lecanto FL. Monday :Spring Hill Office 8:45AM-5PM (Lunch 1hr) Tuesday : Lecanto Office 7:45AM-5PM (Lunch 1hr) Wednesday : Spring Hill Office 7:45AM-5PM (Lunch 1hr) Thursday : Lecanto Office 8:45-5PM (Lunch 1hr) Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during procedures by preparing the treatment area and ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are available. Perform chairside assisting duties, including taking X-rays, applying dental materials, and managing patient comfort. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including patient records and treatment plans, in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling appointments and managing patient information. Conduct vital signs assessments and ensure proper infection control practices are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Operate 3D scanners for imaging purposes and assist with medical imaging tasks as needed. Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth patient flow and manage administrative tasks related to appointments. Cleaning and preparation of units/chairs before each patient. Greet and seat patients, never leaving a seated patient unattended. Anticipate and assist the orthodontist’s needs at all times. Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable), procedure and length of time for next visit. Dismissal of patient and explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress. Radiographs to include panelipse, cephalometric film and occlusal film Utilizing intraoral scanner Checking all patient appliances prior to adjustment or wire changes Intraoral and extraoral photographs Changing archwires or elastic ties Deliver retainers and other removable appliances Adjustment of removable appliances Banding and bonding procedures Debanding/debonding procedures Removal of bonding materials Give patient instruction for cooperation and motivation Re-cementing loose bands/rebonding of loose brackets Documentation of all communication and procedures in patient chart Fabrication or fitting of headgears, lip bumpers and preformed appliances Cleaning and replenishing of x-ray equipment Preparing bracket setups Perform other tasks as assigned by the orthodontist(s) Qualifications Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with a focus on pediatric dentistry being a plus. Proficiency in dental terminology, four-handed dentistry techniques, and aseptic techniques is essential. Familiarity with medical documentation processes, medical coding, and understanding of anatomy knowledge is beneficial. Experience with orthodontic procedures, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry is highly valued. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and provide excellent customer service. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of infection control protocols to ensure a safe treatment environment. Their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, seating and dismissing patients, taking impressions, removing and placing arch wires, fitting and seating bands, fitting and seating of appliances, prepping teeth for bonding procedure, following instructions of the clinical lead (coordinator), reviewing patient care instructions, updating parents regarding patient treatment, and running of your chair column in an efficient and timely matter.
