Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring seamless patient experiences and efficient dental practice operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a solid understanding of dental and medical terminology. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar dental practice management software. Perform administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and maintaining accurate medical and dental records in EMR systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth. Conduct insurance verification, process claims, and follow up on outstanding payments utilizing medical billing and coding knowledge including CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes. Assist dental practitioners during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Manage phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handle multi-line calls efficiently, and coordinate patient intake and follow-up appointments. Support medical administrative functions such as documentation review, care plan updates, and health information management. Maintain a clean, organized front desk area; ensure compliance with infection control protocols; and support office management tasks as needed. Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; utilize office equipment such as 10-key typing machines; and support office management activities. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is required; clinic experience is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing procedures. Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare regulations is advantageous. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Proven customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and courteously. Familiarity with hospital or healthcare setting workflows enhances the ability to support comprehensive patient care plans. Office management skills including filing, documentation review, appointment scheduling, and maintaining medical records are essential for success in this role.
