Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent decay and gum disease. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist during dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort for patients. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary considerations, and post-treatment care to promote long-term oral health. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding of procedures using medical coding standards. Support the dental team with chairside assisting during general dentistry and pediatric dentistry procedures, including pediatric-specific care when necessary. Monitor vital signs and recognize signs of medical emergencies or contraindications during treatment sessions. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Experience providing pediatric dentistry services is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children of all ages. Ability to perform dental assisting duties including chairside support during various procedures using aseptic techniques. Knowledge of dental imaging procedures, vital signs monitoring, and documentation review processes. Prior experience in general dentistry environments that emphasize patient care excellence and detailed recordkeeping.
