Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection control protocols. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, using aseptic techniques and proper dental terminology. Take dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history and treatment plans. Provide vital signs monitoring and medical documentation for patients as needed, especially in pediatrics or medically complex cases. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records with precision. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and knowledge of anatomy to assist with complex procedures like prosthodontics or endodontics. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is preferred, but not needed. Familiarity with dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and taking medical imaging is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding enhances your ability to support clinical documentation effectively. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, or similar platforms is advantageous for seamless record management.
