Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring a Dental Hygienist to our fast paced and dynamic Dental team! This Dental Hygienist will perform dental measures designed to preserve teeth and prevent the spread of oral disease. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Performs prophylactic dental treatment, including dental hygiene and treatment for periodontal disease as prescribed by the dentist. Instructs patients in oral therapy, toothbrush procedures and proper diet and nutrition related to oral health. Provides oral health education and organizes dental prevention activities for clinic patients and community groups. Performs instrumental examinations with dentists in the evaluation of the teeth and surrounding tissue; Feels and visually evaluates gums for sores and signs of disease. Examines with dentists and evaluates gums to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease. Feels lymph nodes under a patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer. Cleans and removes calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums with hand and mechanical instruments. Applies fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay. Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. Exposes, develops, mounts and files x-ray film. Makes impressions for study casts and administers local anesthetic agents and nitrous oxide. Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth. Administers prescribed medication, applies desensitizing agents and sealants. Develops and maintains a periodontal recall system. May function as dental assistant as needed. Must align with OKCIC vision, mission and core values Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited school required Current Oklahoma Dental Hygienist license and in good standing with the Oklahoma State Dental Board 2+ years of Dental Hygiene experience Strong knowledge of Dentrix Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required
