Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history, and dental records review to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary recommendations, and preventive care strategies. Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits, treatment notes, and medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety. Monitor medical imaging procedures and review documentation for accuracy and completeness. Support the dental team by managing sterilization processes, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to facilitate effective communication within the practice. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Prior experience working in general dentistry settings is highly desirable. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for documentation and record-keeping. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and medical imaging techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations effectively. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
