Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health. Conduct dental assessments by reviewing medical histories, documenting findings, and updating medical records accurately. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Utilize dental software systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, appointment scheduling, and record management. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and comply with HIPAA regulations. Support medical imaging procedures such as X-rays while adhering to safety standards and proper documentation review. Monitor patient responses during treatment, including assessing pain levels and vital signs to ensure comfort. Uphold all standards of dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation accuracy for seamless recordkeeping. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or office environment. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient care is a strong plus. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting with professionalism and efficiency in general dentistry settings. Strong understanding of infection control procedures, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and aseptic techniques. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs. Certification in dental hygiene from an accredited program; licensure compliant with state regulations is required.
