Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and applying fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining proper aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment procedures, and post-treatment care to enhance their understanding and compliance. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing medical records securely, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. Be a team player and contribute to building value in oral health and treatments. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license with current certification to practice in the state. Proven experience in dental office settings with familiarity using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, Opendental. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and pediatric dentistry principles. Skilled in chairside assisting, taking vital signs, medical imaging, and reviewing documentation for accuracy. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy. Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry environments with a focus on infection prevention and aseptic technique.
