As an RDA, youâll play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and clinical excellence. Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to proper radiation safety protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; document treatment details accurately and efficiently. Perform vital signs assessments and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and medical imaging. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with EMR systems like OpenDental, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient record keeping. Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists while providing compassionate patient care.
